Mazda MX-5 GT a racing version

Mazda has just introduced the MX-5 lighter and more powerful of all time, a race car built in collaboration with Jota Sport. The Mazda MX-5 GT image will compete in the British Resistance against opponents from the likes of Aston Martin, Porsche or BMW, but says the brand will rise.

THE MX-5 GT is powered by a four-cylinder 2-liter Mazda after various modifications reaches about 280 hp. Combining with a sequential gearbox with six-speed cam, Mazda says it is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h in 3 seconds and reach 257 km / h. The suspension, wheels and brake system have also been adapted to the competition.

According Jota Sport, the car has more than 400 hours of work, a structure getting 17 times more rigid than that stipulated by the FIA and with significant weight loss that sets the scale at 850 pounds thanks to the interior drain, a lighter component and even an acid treatment to the structure that reduces weight by 15 kilograms.

Mazda says that the reliability and good management of the MX-5 will allow the GT is a tough contender in its category. For now, we have to wait for this weekend, when it debuts officially in the race.

  1. I don't need any racing car. But my need to buy one family car and if that will be a crossover then it is better for my family. The upcoming CX-7 is a good crossover in my look.
