Audi A5 R17 DTM

Audi A5 R17 DTM - Audi will run from 2012 with the Deutsche A5 Tourenwagen Masters (DTM, easier way), maybe a car much nicer to see than the previous speed A4 ultramusculado.

There have been changes in the regulations for the next season (which begins in April), especially regarding security. Mainly, this time we have got it into his head that the cars must be able to receive a terrible side impact (four times the previously established by the regulations) without muss.

This makes it necessary to put a new B-pillar between the A and C, ahead of the pilot's head, and absolutely monocoque strengthen its entire length rather than just specific points.

The almighty Mercedes, BMW and Audi are rivals, but know when to collaborate for the position in the global automotive status quo is not altered. And this is what they did when designing the new structure needed.

Regard to the brand in question, the new requirement is solved by the use of carbon fiber and steel, with special reference Zylon (whose creators boast that the synthetic fiber is the world's strongest) and Rohacell foam, in order to make the sidewalls of the A5 R17 in the walls of Avila.

As for the engine, leave the same cage at 90 ° V8 460 hp A4 DTM, according to rules which state that the engines of all cars in competition must follow this pattern.

Finally, the presentation (real, virtual image fine ...) This A5 competition will take place at the IAA Motor Show in Frankfurt in the second half of September.
