Three Infiniti Models Marketed in Indonesia in January 2011

PT Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) to expand the market into the premium segment. Infiniti, Nissan's premium brand, will go to start in January 2011 by offering three models, namely FX (SUV), M (sedan) and G (coupe).

For this, the NMI is supported directly by Nissan Motor Co. Indomobil Group Ltd and to support after-sales service network. For the first phase, for Jakarta.


The unit will be imported as a whole (CBU) from Japan by utilizing the Indonesia-Japan economic cooperation known as the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJ-EPA). So, cars with engines up 3.000cc duty will be charged six per cent (2010), then down 4 percent (2011) and zero percent (2012).

"For the inaugural year, the first target in Indonesia Infiniti 200 units for all models," said Takayuki Kimura, President of NMI at the Four Seasons Hotel, Jakarta, South, today. On the same occasion, Carlos Ghosn, president and CEO of Nissan Motor Co. LTD added, Infiniti's entry in Indonesia not to pursue their sales volume. Nissan, he explained, wanted to grow up with the national car market by offering a diverse variety of models.

"So, Nissan will have a car from the cheapest to most expensive. Infiniti has raised the image of Nissan's role in Indonesia," said Ghosn. Infiniti will accompany Japan's Lexus as a premium brand to compete with the German brand, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi.
